Retooling the Humanities in the Age of Technology: Prospects, Challenges and Possibilities in African Digital Humanities

Hard facts and statistics seem to support the view that the ongoing digital revolution across the world is offering limitless opportunities to every field of human endeavour to reconstruct their approaches, methods and preoccupations. Within the academy, traditional approaches and disciplinary lines are being reconfigured and redrawn. A number of new technology-driven theories, tools and techniques are driving research, initiatives and innovation. This study provides an overview of how Digital Humanities (DH), as an emerging field in the global south, is beginning to redefine and retool the disciplines in the human sciences in Africa.
